About Tera

Tera Guzmanteraphoto

Well, if you can believe it, I was once 95 1bs! Prior to being a competitive female bodybuilder, my weight hovered between 95 to 100 lbs. I’ve always been athletic. While attending college, I played both soccer and softball. After graduation, I accepted a position in upper management for a fortune 500 corporation in the northeast. After several years of employment I made the decision to become my own boss. I moved to Florida and began my own company, Johnny Dolphin Fundraising. I helped elementary and middle schools raise money for special projects, field trips and additional programs.

During this time, I was a member of a local gym and trained on a consistent basis. My progress was slow but steady. It wasn’t long before several friends suggested I enter a local bodybuilding contest, the Tampa Bay Classic. I would always watch the female bodybuilding championships on ESPN and think to myself, “I could do that!” I competed in the Tampa Bay Classic, winning the women’s open overall title. The trophy was taller than I was!

After winning that show in 1997, my approach towards each female bodybuilding contest is slightly different. I take a critical look at myself after each competition and assess my strengths and weaknesses focusing on symmetry and muscularity, while always accentuating my femininity. We all know how cruel judging can be on stage, but ultimately I am the final judge. My career in bodybuilding has helped me to mold the best body my genetics will allow. It’s a life-long challenge and I’m up for it!

My confidence level has truly been elevated as a result of bodybuilding. The idea of setting a goal and reaching that goal with hard work is the most fulfilling feeling in the world. No one can take that away from you. I have been able to motivate others because of the discipline and focus I display.

I am petite at 5’, and I love to smile because it makes people feel good. Even though I’ve shaped up since college, my personality has stayed the same—cute and sassy!

My entrepreneurial spirit lives on and has enabled me to purchase my own gym facility in St. Petersburg that reminds me of the good ol’ days—no fluff, just a lot of sweat and tears!

The gym helps me stay focused. And when I train for the female bodybuilding championships there, I motivate my clients to be the best they can be. Plus, I’m surrounded by cheerleaders encouraging me to win!
